Music Corporation: In 1961, Johnny Tillotson and Paul Tannen formed
Ridge Music Corporation to publish Tillotson tunes. His songs were previously
published by Tannen Music, including "Why Do I Love You So." Johnny also
recorded the Greene/Wolfe song published by Tannen called "True True Happiness."
Under the guidance of Paul Tannen (who produced many Tillotson hits), Ridge
Music's classic pop hits include "Dreamy Eyes," "Without You," "It Keeps
Right On A-Hurtin'", "You Can Never Stop Me Loving You," and "Out of My
Mind." Tannen bought out Tillotson and now is the sole owner of Ridge, which
has 479 songs.
Some of the other writer/artists whose songs are represented in the Ridge Catalogue are Turley Richards, Steve Young, Mark Whitfield, The Kingsmen, and Pat Cooper. The catalogue contains jazz material by guitarist Mark Whitfield and has a strong country presence with recordings by Skeeter Davis, Steve Young, Ernest Tubb & Loretta Lynn, The Wilburn Brothers, Eddy Arnold, Jim Ed Brown, Sonny James, Conway Twitty, Billy Joe Ryoal, Hank Williams Jr., and Dottie West. Other pop artists who have recorded Ridge songs are Elvis Presley, Spanky and Our Gang, Turley Richards, The Crystals, The Kingsmen, and Dean Martin. There is also comedy material by Pat Cooper, including the classic, "An Italian Wedding."
