Media Music, Corp. (BMI): Founded in 1978 by Bob James and Michael Tannen.
It was created as the publishing affiliate of Tappan Zee Records, a record
label started by Bob James and CBS Records. In 1982 Bob James sold his interest
to Michael Tannen, who now owns 100% of the company. Like DeShufflin, most
of the songs were written by singer/songwriters, most of whom recorded for
Tappan Zee Records. The catalogue contains about 100 songs, most of which
is pop, R&B and jazz. Writer/artists represented include Joanne Bracken,
General Norman Johnson, and Wilbert Longmire.
