DeShufflin, Inc. (ASCAP): Founded in 1971 by Paul Simon and Michael Tannen, the company is now owned 100% by Michael Tannen. The catalogue consists of approximately 400 songs written primarily by writers who are or at one time were under contract to DeShufflin as recording artists as well as writers. Many of the writers and artists were signed to DeShufflin at the time, because of Paul Simon's interest in their careers. Mr. Tannen acquired Mr. Simon's interests in the company in 1982. Almost all of the songs have been recorded and released on records or used in movies or on television. Singer/songwriters represented include, among others, The Roches, Loudon Wainright III, Urubamba, Carly Simon, Libby Titus, Peter Moffit, and Bob James. The Company also is the publisher of the acclaimed opera, The Child, written by the Cuban novelist and composer Jose Raul Bernardo. In 1982, DeShufflin also acquired, from Paul Tannen, the Natson Music catalogue which features numerous country hits written by Paul Evans and Paul Parnes. The catalogue also contains pop, contemporary jazz, and folk repetoire and several film scores.
